
LEV TExT Services LTD has the capacity and competence to provide both the Initial Appraisal and Thorough Examination of new or modified LEV systems and provide Thorough Examination and Test Reports (TExT) of current LEV systems.
The LEV Testing & Examination fully complies to the requirements set by Regulation 9 (2002 Amended) of the COSHH Regulations and follows HSE guidance as specified in HSG258 Controlling Airborne Contaminants at Work. We are also accredited to undertake LEV TExT Commissioning Reports and are trained to BOHS: P601, P602, P603, P604 and M200 Standards.
The LEV Testing Process
An LEV Test is compiled of a series of technical qualitative, visual quantitative and maintenance checks, including but not limited to:
- A visual inspection of the entire system will be made to ensure the cleanliness and integrity of the system. Any blockages, corrosion or damage to the systems will be identified at this time.
- Extraction Fans, ductwork, hoods, filters etc will be checked to ensure that they are all fit for purpose, and operating as intended.
- Qualitative airflow measurements will be taken to ensure contaminants are being effectively captured and transported, and that the correct velocities are achieved to control contaminants from the process.
- Quantitative Smoke and Tyndal Light Beam Tests will be carried out to ensure control of contaminants at all LEV Hoods.
- Control system checks will be made to ensure sensors are working as intended and airflow alarms are triggering correctly in real time.
After all testing has been performed, our LEV engineers will provide a comprehensive LEV TExT Report detailing the essential measurements and observations, such as velocity and pressure readings. The report will also identify any faults and or remedial work that needs to be undertaken.
If your LEV system fails the test, immediate corrective actions will need to be detailed in the TExT Report to ensure correct compliance is actioned to adhere with HSE standards. These corrective actions could range from minor adjustments to replacing components or, in extreme cases, the entire system.
